The new agreement, secured through UK subsidiary Bromford Precision Solutions, takes Sigma’s total long-term contracts with Rolls-Royce to nearly £425 million.
New Delhi: Hyderabad-based defence and aerospace company Sigma Advanced Systems has secured an additional long-term agreement worth nearly £125 million, approximately Rs 1,600 crore, with Rolls-Royce.
The agreement was signed through Sigma’s recently acquired UK subsidiary, Bromford Precision Solutions. With this latest deal, the combined value of Sigma’s two long-term agreements with Rolls-Royce has increased to nearly £425 million.
The new contract follows an earlier agreement valued at approximately £300 million, or around Rs 3,800 crore, for the manufacture and supply of high-precision aerospace components.
Components to be manufactured in India and the UK
Under the latest agreement, Bromford will manufacture aero-engine rings, casings, lock plates and other critical engine structures at Sigma’s production facilities in India and the UK.
The partnership will establish a dual-source manufacturing network for Rolls-Royce and allow Sigma to supply a wider range of complex aero-engine components.
Sigma said the agreement reflects the growing capabilities of India’s precision engineering and defence-aerospace manufacturing sector.
Bromford acquisition strengthens global capabilities
The contract comes after Sigma acquired a 100 per cent stake in Bromford Precision Solutions for approximately £11.89 million, around Rs 153 crore, in July.
Based in Leicestershire, Bromford specialises in producing high-precision aero-engine components such as rings, compressor casings, ducts, brackets and lock plates. The company also holds approvals from Rolls-Royce and Siemens.
According to Sigma, the acquisition has strengthened its position within the Rolls-Royce supply chain by adding specialist engineering expertise and complementary manufacturing capabilities.
Sigma Advanced Systems CEO Sunil Kalidindi said global aerospace manufacturers are increasingly considering India for its engineering expertise, manufacturing quality and ability to operate at scale, in addition to cost advantages.
He added that combining Bromford’s specialist capabilities in the UK with Sigma’s integrated manufacturing network in India enables the company to offer a global dual-source solution.
Agreement supports skilled jobs in the UK
Sigma said the agreement would secure the long-term future of Bromford’s Leicestershire facility within the group while supporting skilled engineering and manufacturing employment in the UK.
Sigma operates aerospace and defence businesses across India and the UK, including Nasmyth and Bromford. The group manufactures precision components and systems for leading aerospace and defence customers worldwide.
