Ponnam Prabhakar, born May 8, 1967, is a notable Indian politician serving as the Minister of Transport and BC Welfare in Telangana. A former member of the 15th Lok Sabha and the Working President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, he represented Karimnagar in the Indian National Congress. Prabhakar’s political career, rooted in student leadership, includes various roles in the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and the Youth Congress. After a series of electoral setbacks in Karimnagar, he made a significant comeback by winning the Husnabad constituency in the 2023 Assembly Elections against a BRS candidate. He was sworn in as minister on December 7, 2024, taking charge of his departments shortly after, demonstrating his resilience and dedication to political service in Telangana.
