Hyderabad Advances Bharat Future City: A 765 sq km Urban-Industrial Hub
The Telangana government is forging ahead with ambitious plans to develop Bharat Future City, a sprawling 765 square kilometer urban-industrial hub located in south Hyderabad. This visionary project is being overseen by the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) and is the brainchild of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Implemented by the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) with support from international master planners, Bharat Future City aims to serve as a model for sustainable and inclusive urban development. The city is designed around a “Live, Learn, Work, Play” framework that integrates industrial clusters with residential and civic infrastructure.
The master plan features specialized zones dedicated to cutting-edge sectors, including artificial intelligence, life sciences, electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles, energy storage, tourism, entertainment, film production, health services, and knowledge infrastructure.
Set to accommodate a population of over one million people, this first-of-its-kind net-zero smart city will feature eco-friendly architecture, walkable residential clusters near green reserves, and enhanced connectivity through internal metro lines and bus rapid transit systems. The government is also targeting international investment by collaborating with organizations such as the World Bank, JICA, and AIIB.
Bharat Future City represents Telangana’s bold step toward creating a globally competitive, green, and technologically advanced urban ecosystem, positioning Hyderabad as a leading destination for innovation and sustainable growth.
