Hyderabad’s South Zone police department welcomed a new leader as IPS officer Kiran Khare Prabhakar assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South Zone, on Saturday, November 16, 2025. A 2017 batch officer, Kiran Khare takes over from Sneha Mehra, who was recently transferred to serve as Superintendent of Police in Vikarabad.
Before this appointment, Khare served as DCP for the southwest zone and later as Superintendent of Police in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. His appointment to the South Zone, which includes the iconic Charminar area, brings fresh energy and direction to one of Hyderabad’s busiest and culturally significant parts.
Upon assuming office, DCP Kiran Khare emphasized that his primary goal is to ensure law and order are firmly maintained across the zone. He specifically noted that controlling rowdy elements and ensuring public safety in the Old City area are top priorities. His approach reflects a commitment to balancing heritage preservation with modern policing needs in this historically rich and densely populated area.
The South Zone police force under his leadership is expected to enhance security measures, increase community policing initiatives, and maintain a peaceful environment that supports daily commerce and cultural activities. Residents and business owners in the zone look forward to effective governance and proactive engagement under his stewardship.
Kiran Khare Prabhakar’s appointment is part of a wider IPS reshuffle in Telangana aimed at strengthening law enforcement at various levels and ensuring efficient policing across the state.
