Hyderabad: On Tuesday, the Telangana Chief Secretary directed district Collectors to complete land acquisition for the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) by the second week of September.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari instructed the Collectors to prioritize land acquisition and ensure its completion by the second week of September. She convened a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat to review the progress of the Regional Ring Road’s construction.
Santhi Kumari emphasized that the RRR project is the most prestigious initiative for the state. She instructed officials to accelerate the land acquisition process, addressing any pending issues at various stages. Additionally, the Chief Secretary highlighted the importance of fair compensation for farmers whose lands are being acquired, urging officials to focus on this aspect to ensure just compensation.
Santhi Kumari directed the Collectors of the relevant districts to form committees at the district level for land acquisition. She emphasized that these committees should take measures to ensure that farmers whose lands are being acquired for the RRR receive fair compensation in line with market value.
The Collectors were also instructed to address court cases related to land acquisition and expedite their resolution.
The meeting was attended by Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary, Roads & Buildings; Srinivas Raj, Advisor to Government; Navin Mittal, Principal Secretary, Revenue; Prashanti, Additional Secretary, Forest; Harichandana, Special Secretary, Roads & Buildings; Harish, Joint Secretary, Roads & Buildings; and Collectors from Rangareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, and Siddipet districts.
In the State Budget for 2024-25, Rs 1,525 crores were allocated for the Regional Ring Road project, which aims to connect Hyderabad with other parts of the state.
The northern segment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), extending from Sangareddy to Toopran, Gajwel, and Choutuppal, will cover 158.6 km, while the southern segment, running from Choutuppal to Shadhnagar and back to Sangareddy, will span 189 km. The RRR will be built to expressway standards.
According to the Budget speech, the RRR will initially be constructed as a four-lane highway, with plans to expand it to eight lanes as traffic demands increase.
The area between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and RRR is expected to become a hub for industries, services, and transport parks. Initial estimates indicate that the northern section of the RRR will cost Rs 13,522 crores, while the southern section will cost Rs 12,980 crores.
