Hyderabad, October 17:
A landmark moment unfolded at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad today, as the 77th Regular Recruit (RR) batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers graduated with an unprecedented number of women and professionals from diverse career paths.
Of the 190 graduating probationers, 65 are women, marking the highest-ever female representation in the Academy’s history—36 percent. The batch also includes 16 foreign trainees from neighboring countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives, reinforcing India’s growing leadership in international police training standards.
Diversity defines the Telangana cadre this year, with officers coming from varied educational and professional backgrounds — including doctors, engineers, and former corporate professionals who chose public service over private success. Their participation symbolizes the expanding appeal of investigative and community-based policing in modern India.
SVPNPA Director Amit Garg stated that the visibility of women in uniform is a strong step forward for the country, reflecting institutional changes that promote inclusivity and sensitivity in policing. “This batch illustrates how diversity strengthens leadership. It is no longer just about law enforcement but empathy, communication, and modernization,” he said.
The Passing Out Parade, reviewed by BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary, showcased the grit and discipline of the officers after a year of rigorous training in law, ethics, and field duties. Telangana’s Ayesha Fatima and S. Deepthi Chowhan received special honors for exceptional performance and leadership.
As “Nari Shakti” took center stage, the ceremony underscored Telangana’s emergence as a model for empowering women in policing. The event also served as a reminder of Hyderabad’s enduring role as the nation’s cradle for leadership and law enforcement excellence.
With the addition of this dynamic new generation, Telangana’s police force stands stronger than ever—diverse, tech-savvy, empathetic, and committed to building a safer, inclusive society.
