Gachibowli turned into a sea of runners as over 1,500 participants laced up for XL Runathon 2025, a high-energy running event held at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. The run attracted amateurs, seasoned runners, corporate professionals, students, and fitness groups from across the city, all uniting for a common cause.
Organised by XLRI as part of its 75-year celebrations, the event featured three race categories – 10K, 5K, and 2K – making it accessible to both serious runners and first-time participants. The routes around Gachibowli’s sports district offered a vibrant atmosphere, with volunteers, cheer squads, and organisers lining the tracks to motivate runners.
Beyond fitness, XL Runathon 2025 carried a strong social message. Proceeds from the event were dedicated to supporting free education initiatives for underprivileged individuals, aligning with XLRI’s vision of using education as a tool for meaningful social change. This “run for a greater good” theme resonated with many participants, who saw the event as an opportunity to contribute while doing something they love.
The run also highlighted XLRI’s growing presence in South India, with the institute using the Hyderabad leg to connect with alumni, aspirants, and the local community. Alumni leaders and senior dignitaries flagged off the races, shared inspiring messages, and congratulated runners at the finish line.
From colourful bibs and running gear to post-run selfies and group photos, XL Runathon 2025 added one more memorable chapter to Hyderabad’s expanding fitness and community event calendar. For many participants, it was not just about clocking a timing, but about being part of a city-wide movement that combines health, solidarity, and social impact.
