Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, India’s premier 50m rifle shooter and double Olympian, clinched a thrilling silver medal in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the ISSF World Cup Final 2025 in Doha, Qatar. Shooting a strong 413.3 in the new 40-shot final format, he finished just 0.9 points behind gold medallist Jiri Privratsky of Czechia, with China’s Liu Yukun taking bronze.
A near-perfect performance
Tomar qualified with an impressive 595 score, placing second behind China’s Tian Jiaming’s world-record 598. He surged through the final stages, briefly leading after the 33rd shot before Privratsky edged ahead in the closing moments with high 10s. This silver caps a stellar year-end for Tomar, following Asian Championship gold and World Championship silver, completing his medal set across all major events.
India’s strong showing
The medal marked India’s fourth at the Doha event, underscoring the nation’s rising dominance in shooting with five total medals overall. While Telangana shooters continue to shine locally, Tomar’s global success inspires the next generation training in Hyderabad’s academies and ranges.
Pride for Indian sports
From Bhopal’s shooting academy to the world stage, Tomar’s journey—from junior world record holder to Olympic contender—highlights discipline and precision. Hyderabad sports enthusiasts join the nation in celebrating this achievement, fueling dreams for more medals from South India’s talent pool.
