Hyderabad secured the 6th position among the cleanest cities in India, while Secunderabad Cantonment Board claimed the top rank among cantonments in the Swachh Survekshan Awards announced on Thursday, July 17.
Hyderabad was ranked in the ‘Million Plus’ category, which includes all cities with a population exceeding 10 lakh. The top five positions were secured by Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Lucknow, Raipur, and Jabalpur, respectively.
Despite scoring a perfect 100 percent in key areas such as Door-to-Door Waste Collection, Waste Processing, Dump Site Remediation, and the cleanliness of residential areas, markets, water bodies, and public toilets, Hyderabad’s overall ranking dropped slightly due to a lower score of 93 percent in Source Segregation.
Meanwhile, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board clinched the top spot among 58 cantonments in the rankings. However, it received a score of 0 percent in Remediation of Dump Sites and 50 percent in Cleanliness of Water Bodies.
