Career
He was admitted to the National Defence Academy as an air force plebe in July 1966 and was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a pilot in 1970
National Achievements
India's highest peacetime gallantry award, the Ashoka Chakra, was conferred on him.
Zero Gravity Yoga
He spent a total of 7 days and 21 hours in space. While he was in space, he practiced the revolutionary 'zero gravity yoga' which was later appreciated by the Rocosmos.
