Telangana Launches First Tourist Police Force to Boost Visitor Safety and Comfort
In a significant move to enhance the safety and overall experience of visitors, Telangana has launched its first-ever Tourist Police Force. This dedicated unit, comprising 80 specially trained officers, is deployed across major tourist destinations in the state to provide professional assistance and ensure a secure environment for both domestic and international travelers.
The Tourist Police personnel underwent an intensive week-long training program at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) in Gachibowli. The training covered essential modules such as soft skills, tourist facilitation, crowd and festival management, cyber awareness, communication, and emergency preparedness. This comprehensive preparation equips the officers to serve tourists with empathy, efficiency, and professionalism.
These officers have been stationed at key attractions including iconic landmarks in Hyderabad like Charminar, Golconda Fort, and the Salar Jung Museum. The deployment also covers prominent sites across districts such as Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Ramappa Temple, Ananthagiri Hills, Buddhavanam, and many more renowned locations.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Mahesh Bhagwat, highlighted that this initiative reflects Telangana’s commitment to improving tourist safety and enhancing the state’s image as a global tourism destination. Alongside the Tourist Police, expanded CCTV surveillance has been implemented at major tourist hubs to bolster security and provide swift responses to emergencies.
With the introduction of the Tourist Police Force, Telangana aims to set new standards in visitor care, making the state a safer and more welcoming destination for travelers from across the world.
