This renaming is in line with the Union Home Ministry’s instructions that Raj Bhavans nationwide be called Lok Bhavan and Raj Niwas be called Lok Niwas.
A communique from the Governor’s office said that “Raj Bhavan, Telangana” will henceforth be called “Lok Bhavan, Telangana.”
The note added that the renaming aims to highlight the robustness of democratic values as India advances towards a Viksit Bharat.
The Governor’s office said the title “Lok Bhavan, Telangana” is effective immediately for all official records and references.
The renaming is in accordance with the Union Home Ministry’s direction to change all Raj Bhavans to Lok Bhavan and Raj Niwas to Lok Niwas, which denotes the Lieutenant Governor’s official residence.
