People from diverse faiths united through cricket at Hyderabad’s multi-faith celebrations for Christmas, Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, and Sankranti, organized by COVA Peace Network on January 11 at Boys Town High School.
Tournament Details
Seven teams competed in matches, followed by a special ‘Play for Peace Match’ featuring two players from each team, six interfaith leaders, and police officers to symbolize partnership and harmony.
Promoting Coexistence
The event embodied the spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence, as highlighted in the COVA press release.
Teams represented Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, alongside diverse castes, showcasing regional unity.
Cultural Insights
Pandit Harinarayan Tiwari from Ayodhya discussed Sankranti’s significance, Br Edward Raj shared Christmas messages, and Dr Mazher Hussain highlighted Guru Gobind Singh’s life and contributions.
