Hyderabad: The Future City Police conducted a two-day training programme on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on September 1 and 2 at the Telangana Police Academy.
Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi addressed Assistant Commissioners of Police, Station House Officers, Sub-Inspectors and Station Case Writers during the programme. He emphasised the importance of conducting legally sound, evidence-based and high-quality investigations in NDPS cases.
The training covered several important areas of narcotics investigation, including the use of CCTNS, e-Sakshya and other technology platforms. Officers were also trained in search and seizure procedures, preparation of complaints and seizure panchanamas, and the correct packing, sealing and weighing of seized narcotic substances.
Sessions also focused on mandatory investigation templates, proper documentation, procedures for opposing bail, photography and videography at crime scenes, drug identification, the use of DD Kits and the safe disposal of seized drugs.
Officials advised investigating officers to strictly follow legal and procedural requirements, preserve evidence carefully and maintain complete records. These measures are essential to ensure that NDPS cases remain legally strong and can withstand judicial scrutiny.
During the programme, M. Sandeep Shandilya, former Director of the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement, was felicitated in recognition of his valuable service, experience and expertise in narcotics control and enforcement.
The two-day initiative helped strengthen the professional capabilities of police personnel while improving their understanding of technology, legal procedures and best practices in NDPS investigations.
Commissioner Tarun Joshi appreciated the active participation of the police personnel and thanked the course coordinators, resource persons and officers involved in successfully organising the training programme.
