Telangana DGP C. V. Anand says extensive security, traffic and crowd-management measures are in place across Hyderabad, with SHE Teams and Task Force personnel deployed along key procession routes.
Hyderabad: Around 30,000 police personnel have been deployed across Hyderabad as part of extensive security arrangements for the Ganesh immersion processions, Telangana Director General of Police C. V. Anand said on Wednesday.
With the 10-day Ganesh festival entering its final phase, immersion processions have already begun at several locations, while larger crowds and more processions are expected over the next two days.
The DGP said police personnel have been stationed across the city to manage security, traffic and large gatherings during the immersion processions. Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police are personally monitoring arrangements in Hyderabad and other districts.
Anand made the remarks while speaking to the media after visiting the Khairatabad Ganesh idol. He offered prayers and wished for peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of Telangana.
He appealed to devotees and festival organisers to cooperate with the authorities and ensure that the immersion processions are conducted in a peaceful and safe manner.
Recalling his long association with the Khairatabad Ganesh celebrations from his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Anand thanked festival committee members, police personnel and officials from various government departments for their cooperation.
The police are coordinating with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Electricity, Irrigation and other departments to ensure smooth conduct of the immersion processions.
Special arrangements have been made at Hussain Sagar and other immersion points across Hyderabad. Cranes and other necessary equipment have also been positioned at designated locations along Tank Bund to support the immersion process.
Additional security measures have been introduced along major procession routes to prevent theft and harassment of women. SHE Teams and Task Force personnel have been deployed, while Traffic Police and Law and Order wings are working together to regulate vehicular movement and manage crowds.
DGP Anand also reminded organisers and devotees to follow applicable guidelines regarding the use of DJs, loud sound systems and firecrackers during processions.
He said excessive noise could cause inconvenience to residents, particularly children and senior citizens, and urged organisers to celebrate responsibly.
The DGP welcomed the decision of several festival committees to voluntarily avoid DJs and firecrackers and appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities so that the Ganesh immersion celebrations conclude peacefully and safely.
