Hyderabad: For the convenience of bus passengers and to address traffic chaos at LB Nagar, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is constructing a satellite wayside bus terminal near Harini Vanasthali Park for intercity and inter-State buses.
Every day, around 30,000 passengers heading towards Nalgonda, Khammam, Vijayawada, and other places board RTC and private buses here in this area.
During festive occasions like Dasara and Sankranthi, TSRTC operates special buses from here to ease traffic congestion at MGBS, avoid traffic issues on the city roads, and as a means to diversify bus operations.
The situation turns worse during weekends and holidays and passengers face a lot of inconveniences. With close to 600 buses operated from the area, haphazard parking, especially by private bus operators, results in traffic chaos. To address these issues and ensure the decongestion of traffic, HMDA is now constructing a wayside bus terminal with five bus bays.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary tweeted “HMDA takes up satellite wayside bus terminal with Rs.10 crore at Vanasthalipuram to resolve traffic chaos at LB Nagar for intercity and interstate buses, especially Vijayawada.”
The proposed facility will have six bus bays and each bus bay will have stalls to set up ATMs, pharmacy, water ATM, inquiry, cafeteria, toilet blocks, AC seating, food courts, and sufficient parking. More importantly, HMDA is setting up solar panels to utilize eco-friendly power for operating the facilities, apart from using the power from the grid.
