Hyderabad: With a range of artwork, including murals, etchings, sculptures, graffiti, modern art installations, and paintings by well-known artists and fine art students, public places in Hyderabad have recently seen a significant transformation. The city now has more life and colour thanks to these varied creations.
According to Srikanthi, the Executive Engineer of Chandanagar at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the modern art installations placed at major intersections throughout the city have attracted significant attention from the public. Many individuals have paused to admire the artwork and even take selfies with it. These installations have contributed to the city’s distinctive appearance, and people appreciate the various art structures, wall paintings, and plazas that have been added across Hyderabad.
The art sculptures installed by the civic body at major roundabouts are a delight for the eyes. The ‘Pebble Structure,’ located across from GVK Mall in Banjara Hills, features a five-foot-tall pebble sculpture of a man on his knees with a bird poised to take flight from his hands, while the distinctive ‘Quill Structure’ near the Raheja Mindspace roundabout displays shimmering metal feathers perfectly shaped and attached to the ground, making these two sculptures real crowd-pleasers.
The flight of the state bird of Telangana, Palapitta, is beautifully depicted in an interesting installation on Road No. 70 in Jubilee Hills. The GHMC plans to install additional artwork in public spaces in the upcoming months.
According to city-based artist Akalp Mukim, they are currently working on a night safari sculpture for the botanical gardens, featuring a rock scape with animal figurines. He also mentions that around 10 differently themed structures will be added beneath the flyover near the Kamineni Hospital roundabout at LB Nagar.
