Hyderabad: The Telangana government is organizing BioAsia 2023, the most prominent life sciences and healthcare conference in Asia, which will hold a startup showcase providing a platform for promising startups in the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem.
The “Innovation Zone” at the event will include an incubator pavilion and a startup stage pavilion.
Hyderabad will host BioAsia 2023 from February 24 to 26, with a focus on driving innovation in the pharma, biotech, life sciences, health-tech, and med-tech sectors. The organizers have announced that over 75 shortlisted startups will be granted participation fee waivers and free display booths. This event aims to provide promising startups a global platform to showcase their innovative ideas.
BioAsia 2023 is the 20th edition of this event, and it is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants from over 50 countries.
The startup community has responded overwhelmingly to the Innovation Zone, with more than 400 applications from various countries such as Singapore, Thailand, the US, Ireland, and the UK.
Selected startups will be given space to exhibit their innovative ideas at the exhibition. Applications were carefully evaluated based on uniqueness, feasibility, affordability, and the product’s potential to meet market demand.
The event has invited private equity and venture capital firms, investment banks, and angel investors to participate, offering an opportunity for promising startups to connect and explore potential collaborations.
Selected startups will have full access to all conferences and sessions, as well as the chance to network with industry leaders. Following the event, a jury panel will choose five startups to showcase their work at the main BioAsia Valedictory session, with each team being given exclusive pitch time.
In addition, the winning startups will receive a cash prize and credits for Amazon Cloud. The startup stage is being organized in collaboration with Tech Mahindra and BIRAC, a Government of India initiative.
According to Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary (I&C and IT) for the Government of Telangana, the increasing number of startup deals and funding is a clear indication that Hyderabad has established itself as one of the top five startup hubs in the country.
“BioAsia has gained global recognition through its previous 19 editions, and we are proud to host this year’s Innovation Zone in Telangana, which provides an enormous opportunity for unique startups,” he added.
