Hyderabad: The eagerly awaited inauguration of the Charlapalli Railway Station is set to take place on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the terminal from New Delhi, while Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, G. Kishan Reddy, and other leaders will attend the event at the site.
Originally scheduled for December 28, the inauguration was postponed due to the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the subsequent seven-day mourning period in honor of the veteran politician.
The new Charlapalli terminal is set to offer passengers enhanced services and state-of-the-art amenities, aiming to ease traffic congestion at the city’s main railway stations: Secunderabad, Nampally, and Kacheguda.
Redeveloped at a cost of ₹430 crore to rival airport standards, the terminal was initially expected to open in August last year following the completion of road widening works. However, delays caused by land acquisition for approach road connectivity postponed the inauguration.
Designed to accommodate 50 train operations, the terminal features modern facilities such as lifts, escalators, nine platforms, and ample parking spaces. The station is poised to serve as a key hub, easing the load on the saturated Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda stations.
The terminal’s contemporary building includes six booking counters, separate waiting halls for men and women, an upper-class waiting area, and an executive lounge on the ground floor. The first floor will host a cafeteria, restaurant, feeding cabins for mothers, and restrooms for both women and men, offering a comfortable and convenient experience for travelers.

Strategically located near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the upcoming Regional Ring Road (RRR), the terminal offers enhanced connectivity, making it a convenient choice for travelers across the city and surrounding areas.
