Hyderabad: In a one-of-a-kind experience, schoolchildren from across Hyderabad had the rare chance to explore advanced artillery guns, communication systems, and Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) warfare suits specially designed for the Indian Army.
This thrilling opportunity was part of the three-day ‘Know Your Army’ Mela, inaugurated by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, alongside Major General Ajay Misra, GOC, TASA, and other senior officers, at the historic Golconda Fort on Friday.
The ‘Know Your Army’ Mela, open daily from 9 am to 5 pm until Sunday, January 5, is designed to inspire and motivate citizens, particularly the youth. It serves as a vital link between the Armed Forces and the public, showcasing the Indian Army’s modernization, inclusivity, and cutting-edge military advancements.
Organized under the aegis of the Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (HQ TASA) and coordinated by the Artillery Centre, Hyderabad, the event features live demonstrations, including Gatka, a traditional martial art, performed by soldiers of the Punjab Regiment. Soldiers from the Artillery Centre also captivated audiences with displays of Unarmed Combat Martial Arts, highlighting their discipline and skill.
Visitors can also enjoy attractions such as Symphony and Pipe Band performances, interactive zones, recruitment booths, photo opportunities with artillery equipment and soldier uniforms, and exhibits of military uniforms and gallantry awards, making the event a comprehensive and engaging experience.
