Damodar Raja Narasimha, born on December 5, 1958, is a veteran Indian politician and former Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (2011-2014). Representing Andole as an MLA from the Indian National Congress, Narasimha has been influential in the state’s political arena, holding key ministerial positions in higher education and agriculture. Born in a Dalit family in Medak district to Raja Narsimha, a three-time MLA, he initially aimed for a bureaucratic career but shifted to politics after his father’s passing. His political journey began with his first election as MLA in 1989, followed by wins in 2004 and 2009. Serving in YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s cabinet, he was Minister for Primary Education and later for Marketing and Warehousing. In the 2023 Assembly Elections, Narasimha won from Andole and joined the Revanth Reddy cabinet, handling Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology, continuing his impact on Telangana’s socio-political landscape.
