Hyderabad: The 16th India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), hosted by the Game Developer Association of India (GDAI), will be held from November 13-15 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). As the largest event of its kind in the country, IGDC 2024 is set to attract 20,000 attendees, more than 250 speakers, and an expansive expo showcasing leading gaming companies, startups, and country pavilions.
IGDC has experienced significant growth in recent years and is now ranked among the top three gaming conferences globally. This year, the conference underscores India’s emergence as a leading force in the gaming industry.
With over 150 sessions led by top gaming experts, including Jordan Weisman, creator of BattleTech, MechWarrior, and Shadowrun; Tim Morten, renowned for StarCraft II and Stormgate; and Bryce Johnson, co-inventor of the Xbox Adaptive Controller, attendees will gain insights into the latest trends, challenges, and innovations shaping the gaming world.
IGDC 2024 will also emphasize the need for dedicated gaming hubs and the expansion of incubators in India, inspired by the success of Telangana’s IMAGE Tower. On the second day, policy discussions will take place with state IT ministers and industry leaders, focusing on strategies to support game development in India and foster international partnerships.
“India’s gaming industry is growing fast,” said Mr. Sridhar Muppidi, Chairperson of GDAI. “IGDC is a crucial platform where developers, investors, and policymakers can come together to build a strong foundation that will help India stand out in the global gaming community.”
The event will feature a comprehensive expo with showcases from indie game developers, board games, gaming companies, and country booths. Attendees can also engage in workshops, discussions, and networking opportunities. A key highlight will be the IGDC Awards Night on November 14, where the newly introduced ‘International Game Award’ will be presented in ten categories, alongside two special jury awards.
