IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday affirmed that the Telangana government has been focusing on Hyderabad’s development since taking office, allocating ₹22,000 crore for various projects within GHMC limits for 2024-25. He highlighted that Hyderabad, the heart of Telangana, continues to be a key priority in the government’s infrastructure and urban development initiatives.
During a discussion on the Demands for Grants for the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD), IT, and Industries departments in the Assembly, Mr. Sridhar Babu assured that the elevated corridors from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road and from Paradise to Shamirpet Junction would be completed within 36 months.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Musi River rejuvenation project, highlighting its goal of improving the quality of life for residents in the river’s catchment area. Addressing concerns over funding, he clarified that 2,166 structures, including houses, had been identified in the Musi riverbed, with 309 families voluntarily agreeing to relocate. He assured that those affected would receive compensation under the existing relief and resettlement packages.
Dismissing allegations from BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, who claimed that 16,000 properties were marked for eviction, Sridhar Babu stressed that the Musi project is not just a beautification effort but a comprehensive urban development initiative.
Regarding drinking water supply, the Minister criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti government for neglecting key projects essential for Hyderabad and its surrounding areas. He stated that the current government has launched the Godavari Phase 2 and 3 projects at a cost of ₹7,360 crore to meet the city’s growing water demands.
