Hyderabad: As the city settles into stillness at midnight, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad springs to life, drawing young people eager to unwind and socialize, particularly on weekends after the city’s popular spots have closed. The airport’s Aero Plaza has quickly become a favorite destination. Sharing her story, Rishvana, a regular visitor, said, “It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends. One night, I was feeling down and wanted to go out, but everything else was closed. My friends brought me here, and I ended up having a great time. Since then, I haven’t stopped coming back.”
A group of five friends shared that the airport has become their favorite hangout spot. “We love coming here,” one of them remarked. “It’s the live music that pulls us in. While most city bars and pubs close by 12:30 or 1 a.m., here at the airport, the music continues until 4 a.m.,” added Arun Teja, a software professional. “After a long, stressful week, it’s the perfect place to unwind and vibe to the tunes.”
Another friend in the group, a sports enthusiast, shared that he loves watching live match screenings at the airport’s sports bar, which creates a stadium-like vibe with fans cheering for their favorite teams. The airport’s nightlife is a blend of experiences, from lively eateries to cozy lounges where both locals and travelers can unwind. Soumya Yadav adds, “We’ve explored the whole city, but when we want a long drive and a relaxed night out, we prefer coming here. The nighttime energy here is unique and hard to find anywhere else.”
For adventure seekers, the airport also offers go-karting, adding an extra thrill to the experience. Plus, as one visitor pointed out, the prospect of a long drive to reach the airport adds to the appeal.
