Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad, calling it a major milestone for India’s fast-growing private space ecosystem. The new campus is a state-of-the-art facility of about 2,00,000 square feet, built to design, develop, integrate, and test multiple launch vehicles, with the capacity to build up to one orbital rocket every month.
During the inauguration, the Prime Minister also unveiled Vikram-I, Skyroot’s first orbital rocket engineered to place satellites into orbit for commercial and strategic missions. This makes Vikram-I one of the key private-sector launch vehicles emerging from Hyderabad, positioning the city as a serious player in the global small-satellite launch market.
Modi highlighted that India now has more than 300 space startups and said the Infinity Campus reflects the country’s new thinking, innovation, and youth power. He emphasised that opening the space sector to private players has created new opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, and engineers, with Hyderabad becoming a preferred base for cutting-edge aerospace and tech companies.
For Hyderabad, Skyroot’s expansion adds another high-tech landmark to the city’s innovation corridor, alongside its IT, aerospace, and defence ecosystem. The Infinity Campus is expected to generate high-skilled jobs, attract global collaborations, and inspire a new generation of Hyderabad youngsters to pursue careers in space technology and deep-tech startups.
