The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Exam is widely regarded as one of the toughest competitive exams in India. To succeed in this exam, candidates dedicate countless hours to rigorous study. Every year, thousands of aspirants attempt the UPSC to pursue careers as IAS, IFS, IRS, and IPS officers. However, only a small percentage of them succeed in this highly competitive exam, which consists of three stages: the preliminary exam, the main exam, and the interview. Today, we will delve into the remarkable journey of Anudeep Durishetty, whose story is a testament to his unwavering dedication and resilience.
After graduating from BITS Pilani and gaining work experience as a software engineer at Google, Anudeep Durishetty embarked on his UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) journey. Driven by a deep desire to serve his country, he chose to leave behind a lucrative career and pursue the challenging path of becoming a federal servant. His first attempt in 2012 was unsuccessful, and while his second attempt in 2013 secured him a position in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), his ultimate dream of becoming an IAS officer remained unfulfilled.
Despite facing multiple obstacles, Anudeep Durishetty remained determined and continued his UPSC CSE journey in 2014 and 2015. Although he encountered setbacks, these challenges only fueled his resolve rather than diminishing his enthusiasm. On his fifth attempt in 2017, Anudeep not only achieved his goal of entering the elite IAS but also topped the UPSC CSE 2017 with an All India Rank (AIR) 1—an extraordinary accomplishment, especially as he did it without any coaching. Currently serving as the District Collector of Hyderabad, Anudeep Durishetty made history by securing AIR 1 with a remarkable score of 1,126 out of 2,025 marks, setting a record for the highest marks ever scored in the UPSC exam.
Anudeep Durishetty attributes a significant part of his success to the unwavering support of his family.
