Revival of Hyderabad’s Laad Bazaar Underway
The Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) is working to restore the former glory of Laad Bazaar, a famous bangle market located near Charminar in Hyderabad. To achieve this, the façade for the shops has been standardized to ensure uniformity. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar stated that the restoration is expected to be completed within a year.
Laad Bazaar, also known as Choodi Bazaar, has been a prominent part of Hyderabad since the Qutb Shahi era. Most of the shops on its kilometer-long road sell bangles and wedding items. The market is located near other historical landmarks such as Charminar, Makkah Masjid, and Chowmahalla Palace.
Lad Bazaar facade for shops is finalised and work is being taken up by #QQSUDA.

In addition to restoring Laad Bazaar, the Telangana government recently announced the restoration of Khursheed Jah Devdi, a European-style palace located in Hussaini Alam and just a kilometer away from Charminar. The palace, once decorated with elaborate chandeliers and surrounded by a flower-filled garden, is a notified heritage structure. Although the announcement was made in December 2022, work has yet to commence.
