Osmania University made a strong start in the Khelo India women’s tennis final, with Saumya securing the opening singles match. However, MDU quickly turned the tide by winning the second singles and then sealing the title in the deciding doubles encounter. The spirited comeback in Jaipur allowed MDU to lift the championship.
Hyderabad: Osmania University fell to Maharshi Dayanand University in the final of the Khelo India Inter-University Women’s Tennis Championship held in Jaipur.
OU began the tie on a positive note, with Saumya delivering a commanding win over Reny Singh 6-2, 6-2 in the first singles. However, Chevila went down 2-6, 5-7 to Anjali Rati in the second singles, allowing MDU to level the contest.
In the decisive doubles match, the OU pair of Saumya and Chevika put up a strong fight but eventually lost 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 to the MDU duo of Anjali Rati and Reny Singh.
