Hyderabad: The Telangana government has set an ambitious target of training two lakh Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineers, announced State IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. The statement came during a courtesy visit by a Singaporean delegation led by Consul General Edgar Pang at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat on Monday. The Minister also shared the state’s ongoing efforts to establish Telangana as a leading hub for emerging technologies.
He underscored the State’s dedication to empowering youth with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly growing AI sector. Minister Sridhar Babu also highlighted the upcoming ‘Future City’ project, which is being developed to international standards and will house a dedicated AI University. He noted that several global organizations have shown keen interest in collaborating on the initiative. “Hyderabad is fast emerging as a hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs),” he added, pointing out that nearly 70 GCCs spanning IT, hospitality, and other sectors have been established in the city over the past year.
He further outlined the government’s efforts to boost industrial development across Telangana, emphasizing the push to encourage industries to expand beyond Hyderabad, particularly into cities like Warangal and Karimnagar. The Minister called on the visiting delegation to help raise awareness among Singaporean industrialists about the strategic advantages of investing in Telangana. He also reaffirmed the State’s willingness to collaborate with the Singapore government in areas such as technology, skill development, and other emerging sectors. The meeting was also attended by Consul Vaishnavi Vasudevan, First Secretary (Economic) Vivek Raghu Raman, and Denis Tam, Regional Director (India – South) of Enterprise Singapore, among others.
