Sangareddy: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H), through its Centre for Geospatial AI and Digital Twins (CGDT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) to transform shipbuilding using advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and digital twins.
As per a press release, this strategic partnership—undertaken in collaboration with Neer Interactive Solutions Private Limited and Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS) Arts and Science College—aims to harness CGDT’s cutting-edge expertise to boost efficiency, enhance security, and promote sustainability in maritime operations.
The partnership is set to drive cutting-edge innovation in shipbuilding by optimizing vessel design, enhancing shipyard security, and deploying advanced 360-degree surveillance systems powered by Geospatial AI and object detection AI. By integrating generative AI with digital twin technologies, the initiative aspires to establish new global benchmarks for India’s shipbuilding sector, the release noted.
Prof. B.S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, stated that CGDT-IIT Hyderabad, in collaboration with Neer Interactive and Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS), is pioneering a comprehensive Geospatial AI model that delivers 360-degree maritime security solutions — a first-of-its-kind initiative not just in India, but across Asia.
The MoU signing event was attended by key dignitaries, including GSL CMD B.K. Upadhyay, AMS Chairman Dittakavi Chakrapani, and Neer Interactive Solutions CEO Jai Sankar Aluru, among others.
