Hyderabad: The state government is gearing up to launch a new initiative aimed at simplifying access to welfare schemes through the introduction of a unified ‘Family Digital Card’ for every household. This all-in-one card will grant families access to ration, healthcare services, and various welfare programmes provided by the state government on a single platform. The proposal was reviewed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a meeting with officials from the health and civil services departments at his residence on Monday.
The Chief Minister highlighted that states like Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka have already implemented similar digital cards, which store comprehensive family details. He directed officials to study the policies of these states, analyze the benefits and challenges, and prepare a detailed report on how Telangana could implement a comparable system. To assess the system’s viability, Reddy proposed a pilot project, selecting one urban and one rural area from each Assembly constituency across Telangana. The family digital card will be introduced in these pilot areas to gauge its effectiveness before a full-scale statewide launch.

**Hyderabad:** The Telangana government is preparing to launch a new initiative to streamline access to welfare schemes by introducing a comprehensive ‘Family Digital Card’ for every household. This single card will enable families to access ration, health services, and other welfare programs offered by the state government from one platform. The proposal was reviewed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during a meeting with officials from the health and civil services departments at his residence on Monday.
The Chief Minister noted that states like Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka have successfully implemented similar digital cards that store complete family details. He instructed officials to analyze the policies of these states, evaluate their benefits and challenges, and prepare a detailed report on how Telangana could adopt a similar system.
To test the system, Reddy proposed a pilot project in which one urban and one rural area will be selected from each Assembly constituency across Telangana. The family digital card will be launched in these pilot locations to assess its efficiency before a statewide rollout.
“The family digital card should allow beneficiaries to access ration and health services seamlessly, regardless of their location. Additionally, it should incorporate the health profiles of each family member to ensure better medical services in the future,” the Chief Minister stated. He also emphasized the need for flexibility in the digital cards, allowing families to update their details, such as adding or removing members, regularly. Reddy called for the establishment of district-level systems to monitor the performance and effectiveness of the digital card program, aiming to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries can access welfare schemes without any hurdles.
The meeting addressed the potential of the family digital card to streamline and simplify the distribution of government-sponsored benefits, emphasizing transparency and accessibility. This comprehensive family digital card project is anticipated to significantly improve service delivery in Telangana, offering citizens easy access to essential welfare schemes and health services through a unified system. Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, CC’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, and other senior officials were present during the review meeting.
