Towards a cleaner, greener Hyderabad
Between December 29, 2025, and January 31, 2026, GHMC personnel will undertake a citywide cleaning drive covering foot overbridges, flyovers, roads, dividers, medians, lakes, nalas, parks, and footpaths.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated a large-scale sanitation drive across its newly constituted 300 wards, targeting the removal of legacy waste and garbage vulnerable points (GVPs).
Between December 29 and January 31, GHMC staff will carry out cleaning operations across foot overbridges, flyovers, roads, dividers, medians, lakes, nalas, parks, and footpaths. The drive will also address waste at construction and demolition sites, promote green waste management, and convert garbage vulnerable points (GVPs) into attractive selfie spots.
Cleanliness awareness campaigns, e-waste and reusable item collection drives, along with waste segregation and composting initiatives in schools, will also be promoted. Additionally, fines will be imposed on the public for littering, open urination, and illegal dumping.
As part of the drive, GHMC will remove unclaimed scrap vehicles and refurbish damaged public toilets. Officials must provide daily ward-level updates with geotagged photos.
