Hyderabad: The Institute for Vision Rehabilitation of LV Prasad Eye Research Institute (LVPEI) has received the prestigious Sarojini Triloknath National Award instituted by National Association for the Blind in the ‘Best Institution’ category for its services towards visually-impaired people. The award was presented to Dr. Beula Christy, Head, LVPEI-Institute for Vision Rehabilitation in a recent virtual award ceremony.
In the last three decades, the Vision Rehabilitation Institute of LVPEI has successfully rehabilitated over two lakh people with low vision and blindness. The institute also runs a Livelihood Skill Development Programme to provide training in specific or multiple trades to people with vision loss and to their family members. The institute also offers them the needed support in up-scaling their trade ventures. The range of products developed under these programs are utility-based, and are marketed under the tag name ‘A Meaningful Gift’.
To support the Livelihood Skill Development Programme, the institute is organizing a virtual live fund-raising event ‘Artists United’ from 6 pm to 8 pm on January 2 2021 on Facebook, Dr. Beula Christy said.
