As Hyderabad experiences an increase in maximum temperature, the Nehru Zoological Park is proactively safeguarding the health and welfare of its animals. In response to the steady rise in temperature in recent days, the park has installed coolers, sprinklers, and foggers throughout the area to mitigate the effects of the heat.
The zoo has deployed over 200 sprinklers, each with small rain guns installed in every enclosure, to provide heat relief to all animals. Additionally, more than one thousand foggers have been strategically placed in areas such as the reptile house, New Macaws, all Pheasantry, and the Aviary.

To maintain a cool and verdant environment, the zoo officials are continuously watering the lawns and gardens. Moreover, they have placed over one kilogram of thunga grass on the roofs of the enclosures and night houses to provide additional insulation for the animals against the heat.
The zoo officials are offering seasonal fruits such as watermelon to help the animals cope with the heat, which not only hydrates them but also provides essential vitamins and nutrients. With these initiatives in place, the Nehru Zoological Park is well-prepared to combat the summer heat and guarantee the animals’ health and welfare.
