Hyderabad: The Green India Challenge initiative of TRS Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar continues to gain respect and following from people from all walks of life. On Monday, a professor of pediatrics and a lifelong green activist from Hyderabad Dr. Markandeyulu roped-in children from an orphanage in Nagole and took-up planting of saplings under the Green India Challenge.
“Apart from teaching medicine to young MBBS graduates, I have always been a nature lover and ensured that I involve myself in tree plantation on a regular basis in Hyderabad. The Green India Challenge of Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar is a unique initiative and has gained the respect of people from all spheres from across India. It is also a great initiative to involve children and getting them to respect nature at a young age,” Dr. Markandeyulu said.
Apart from planting trees, Dr. Markandeyulu along with the children from the orphanage also took an oath to save the environment. “I have been involved in planting trees for the past 15 years in Hyderabad and I have never seen an initiative like Green India Challenge,” he said.
Later, the pediatrician took to Twitter and posted the pictures of children planting saplings, as part of the Green India Challenge. The Rajya Sabha MP responded and appreciated the effort of the doctor. “Thank you, Dr. Markandeyulu for a fabulous job by taking up mass plantation with orphan children Green India Challenge.
Immensely happy to see kids participating. Also, thank you for your kind words. Inspirational,” the Rajya Sabha MP tweeted.
