Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated IT giant Cognizant’s new campus at Kokapet in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Spread across 10 lakh sq.ft, the state-of-the-art campus is set to employ around 15,000 people, making Hyderabad Cognizant’s largest base globally.
Founded in Chennai in 1994, Cognizant launched its Hyderabad operations in 2002 and now boasts five campuses in the city’s IT corridor. The company is the second-largest IT employer in Telangana. While Cognizant’s workforce in Chennai is currently around 55,000 to 56,000 employees, Hyderabad is poised to surpass that with 57,000 employees. The new campus will focus on advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), digital engineering, and cloud solutions.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the State government would establish an investors task force to attract investments to Telangana. He highlighted that his recent trips to the US and South Korea secured investments worth Rs 31,500 crore, which are expected to create around 30,750 jobs.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that with Hyderabad leading the way, Telangana would compete on a global scale rather than with neighboring states like Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh in drawing investments. He also acknowledged the contributions of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who laid the foundation for Hyderabad’s IT sector, and former Chief Ministers N Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who played pivotal roles in driving its growth.
