Hyderabad: The GHMC faced widespread criticism after posting a misleading image on its official X account, showcasing altered pictures of beautification work on the Basheerbagh flyover.
The post claimed that “beautification work is currently underway at Basheerbagh flyover” and emphasized the commitment to creating a “greener and more aesthetically pleasing Hyderabad.” However, the image, which displayed artwork on the flyover pillars, was soon exposed as digitally manipulated.
The same image was used twice, featuring photoshopped illustrations of the Qutub Shahi tombs and Falaknuma Palace pasted onto the flyover pillars instead of actual artwork.
Many social media users quickly noticed the manipulation and called out the GHMC for attempting to present computer-generated visuals as real improvements.
One commenter remarked, “The ‘beautification’ work is computer-generated and poorly edited, clearly trying to deceive the people of Hyderabad.”
The incident has sparked widespread criticism, with citizens voicing frustration over the lack of real progress in urban beautification projects. Many are calling for greater transparency from municipal authorities regarding these efforts.
Residents have demanded accountability from the corporation to ensure that future beautification projects are genuinely executed. As of now, GHMC has yet to issue a clarification or respond to the backlash.
