Hyderabad: On Friday, August 2, troops from the Indian Army’s Bison Division, alongside personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Telangana State Disaster Relief Forces (DRF), Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Service Department, and various NGOs, conducted a joint humanitarian assistance and flood relief exercise at Hussain Sagar lake.
To ensure effective coordination and preparedness for any calamity, the Indian Army, NDRF, DRF, and Fire Services participated in a joint exercise named Rahat. This exercise showcased the roles and capabilities of the personnel involved in flood relief operations.
“The exercise, called Exercise Rahat, highlighted the collaboration between various Central and State Government agencies involved in providing flood relief in Telangana. The Indian Army remains prepared to assist the civil administration in response to any natural disasters,” stated the Indian Army in a press release.
The Army, with troops stationed in Hyderabad, keeps disaster relief columns on standby, ready to mobilize quickly for such operations. National and state-level task forces are also involved in the rescue efforts.
Attendees included Y. Nagi Reddy, Director General of Telangana Disaster Relief and Fire Response; Major General Rakesh Monocha, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area; Major General Akhilesh Kumar, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding, Bison Division; as well as representatives from GHMC and HYDRA.
