In a significant move that brings relief to the city’s Ganesh idol makers, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has successfully intervened to secure a one-month extension for these artisans, who were previously facing eviction orders.
This extension, granted by Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty, allows the idol makers to continue their work undisturbed as they prepare for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The issue arose when the authorities instructed the idol makers to vacate their designated work areas in Dhoolpet, threatening their ability to complete the idols in time for the festival. With Ganesh Chaturthi, scheduled for September 7, just around the corner, such a move would have led to substantial financial losses for the families dependent on this vital industry.
Responding to a heartfelt plea from the idol makers, Asaduddin Owaisi stepped in, ensuring that the situation was addressed promptly. Following his intervention, AIMIM’s Nampally MLA Majid Hussain presented a formal representation to the Hyderabad Collector, resulting in the crucial one-month extension.
The extension has been met with immense gratitude from the idol makers, who now have the necessary time to finalize and prepare the thousands of Ganesh idols that will adorn homes and public spaces throughout Hyderabad. The festival is expected to see over one lakh Ganesh idols installed within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, culminating in the grand visarjan or immersion procession on September 17.
The city of Hyderabad is abuzz with activity as preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi are in full swing. Streets are being decorated, and vibrant festivities are being planned, reflecting the spirit of celebration and community involvement.
With the preparations now back on track, Hyderabad is poised to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with the enthusiasm and grandeur it is known for, bringing joy and togetherness to the city’s residents.
