Hyderabad: To expand its academic reach and address the growing demand for legal education, NALSAR University of Law is planning to establish a new campus in the city, complementing its existing one at Justice City in Shamirpet.
The proposed campus is expected to be located at Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (PSTU) in Nampally. NALSAR Vice Chancellor Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao, along with other university officials, recently visited PSTU, which has relocated to its new campus in Bachupally. During the visit, the team was shown the available space on the second floor of PSTU’s administrative building.
NALSAR’s new city campus, expected to launch in the 2025-26 academic year, aims to introduce a three-year LLB degree program with BCI approval for 60 seats. Admissions for this new non-residential program will be based either on an in-house national-level entrance test or the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
“It is a long-standing proposal to establish another city campus, making the university more accessible to those seeking legal education. We plan to launch a three-year LLB program at the new campus next year. The necessary infrastructure needs to be developed in the allotted space at the Telugu University campus, and faculty needs to be recruited,” Vice Chancellor Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao told ‘Telangana Today’.
Additionally, NALSAR administration plans to relocate its Centre for Distance and Online Learning to the upcoming city campus. This move aims to reach a broader audience interested in legal education. The center will also offer several new law degree and diploma courses. “We will also organize training sessions for lawyers at the new campus,” Prof. Rao added.
