Hyderabad: The 13th edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon is scheduled for August 24 and 25. It is the second city marathon, after Mumbai, to be awarded the prestigious World Athletics label.
According to the press release, the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon will offer a total prize money of Rs 44 lakh. Over 25,200 runners have registered so far, including participants from across the country and abroad.
The marathon, organized around Hussain Sagar Lake, will feature a 5-kilometre race on August 24 and a 10-kilometre race on August 25.
The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon route will cover key landmarks including Hussain Sagar Lake, Raj Bhavan Road, KBR Park, Jubilee Hills Road No. 45, Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, Bio-diversity Junction, University of Hyderabad, and will finish at Gachibowli Stadium.
NMDC race director Rajesh Vetcha encouraged the people of Hyderabad to embrace the marathon: “We want the people of Hyderabad to own the marathon. Come out, support, and cheer the runners. Play music, and encourage them. This NMDC marathon in Hyderabad is for everyone, from elite athletes to those running for fun or charity. Let’s showcase the incredible energy and hospitality of our city.”
