On Monday, Revanth Reddy convened a meeting with representatives from various industrial units on skill development at the Engineering Staff College, Gachibowli. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, and Advisor to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy were also in attendance.
The chief minister instructed officials to prepare a blueprint in advance outlining the courses to be offered at the university, the curriculum, industrial requirements, and employment opportunities for youth,” the release added. A report will be submitted shortly before the Assembly budget session on July 23.
According to the CMO release, the industry will play a crucial role in assessing demand, developing the curriculum, providing skill training, and offering internships for students at the ‘Skill’ university in Hyderabad. The university’s hub will be located in Hyderabad, and a corpus fund will be established with CSR donations from the industry, it further noted.
The Telangana chief minister also emphasized that the government’s primary goal is to establish the ‘Skill’ university to impart advanced knowledge to the youth. Deputy chief minister Vikramarka has been tasked with overseeing the financial aspects of establishing the university, while IT and Industry Minister Sridhar Babu will lead the development of the curriculum and courses.
“The two ministers have been instructed to draft the proposals within a specified deadline and meet every five days, given that the assembly session begins in 15 days,” the release stated. Revanth Reddy also directed officials to assess whether the ‘Skill’ university should be established through a public-private partnership or if the government alone can shoulder the responsibility.
