Hyderabad: The Flood Relief Coalition, a group of around 10 voluntary organizations involved in relief and rehabilitation in the flood-affected areas, is identifying houses for repairs and renovation.
Initially, around 100 houses will be identified where complete overhauling is required like building repairs, house wiring, door and window repair works, and lastly painting works.
Ayesha Rubina, GHMC corporator and founder of Ayesha Foundation, said that so far about 20,000 kits were provided to the flood-affected families.
The kits consist of clothing for men, women, and kids, toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, blankets, and bedsheets. “Articles like utensils, household articles, and other important goods were handed over by the group in the second phase. In the rehabilitation stage, we will take up repairs and renovation works of houses damaged in the floods,” she said.
The group set up five sorting and distribution centers at Banjara Hills, Madhapur, Secunderabad, Kukatpally, and Himayatnagar. “A team is surveying the affected areas and preparing a list. The other teams are reaching out to the affected families with their requirements,” Ayesha added.
