Hyderabad: In partnership with Wells Fargo, the Telangana AI Mission declared the victors of the nationwide Academic Grand Challenge on Friday.
In collaboration with NASSCOM, the Telangana AI Mission, an initiative of the State government, announced that the challenge attracted more than 5,000 team entries from over 15,000 students representing 500 colleges and universities across India. The participating students were tasked with developing creative solutions to address specific business problems presented by the bank.
T-AIM initiated a project in August 2022 that tasked student teams with creating solutions in two distinct areas. The first challenge involved the development of a futuristic, completely digital bank that incorporated advanced technologies to facilitate banking from anywhere and at any time. The second challenge required the creation of a predictive analytics model to assess the performance of financial markets for the year.
SRM Institute of Science and Technology’s two student teams were awarded top honors in the competition, while teams from Presidency University, Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Punjab Engineering College, and Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College were among the runners-up. Additionally, 14 other teams were acknowledged for their high-quality submissions. Wells Fargo is offering job opportunities to final-year students from the first, second, or third-placed teams, while the winning prefinal-year team members will receive the prize money offered by the bank.
Arindam Banerrji, EVP & Managing Director of Wells Fargo India & Philippines, congratulated the winners and runners-up, noting that the participation and performance of students from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities on par with Tier-1 cities demonstrated India’s potential as a knowledge superpower. He added that some of the country’s most creative and innovative young minds participated in the challenge.
During the virtual felicitation ceremony, Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary (IT), emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration for success in today’s fast-paced technological landscape. He pointed to the partnership between Wells Fargo and the student community as a shining example of this.
