Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Friday that all restaurants, hotels, and other business establishments in Hyderabad, excluding liquor shops and bars, would be allowed to stay open until 1 AM. He stated that necessary directions would be issued to all three police Commissionerates.
During a short discussion on “Activities for Sustainable Urban Development in Hyderabad Metro City” in the Assembly, the Chief Minister also revealed plans to construct a new Osmania General Hospital by demolishing the old police quarters at Goshamahal, while preserving the heritage structures on the current hospital premises. He reiterated that the proposed Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) is aimed at preventing illegal encroachments around the city. Additionally, he unveiled plans to change house numbers and implement a comprehensive development plan for Hyderabad.
To protect lakes, canals, and other water bodies in and around Hyderabad, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that proposals worth ₹6,000 crore have been submitted to the Union government for financial support. He outlined plans for a Mega Master Plan 2050 to develop Hyderabad into a global city and to create a new city around Mucherla, in addition to Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad.
In response to a request from AIMIM, the Chief Minister pledged to develop Mir Alam Lake into a tourist attraction, akin to Durgam Cheruvu, including a cable suspension bridge and a Hyderabad Eye similar to the London Eye. He also mentioned plans to invite global tenders for the Musi Riverfront Development project, aiming to model it after London’s Thames River. Additionally, he assured that those living along the Musi River would be compensated with TDR bonds and other means.
Revanth Reddy affirmed the Congress government’s commitment to continuing the successful initiatives of previous administrations and integrating successful programs from other states like Gujarat. He noted that former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had continued the innovative projects of his predecessor N. Chandrababu Naidu for Hyderabad’s development in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
