Revanth Reddy honours Dr Manmohan Singh’s legacy in economic reforms and Telangana formation.
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on his birth anniversary, describing him as one of the architects of modern India.
Revanth Reddy is scheduled to unveil a statue of Dr Manmohan Singh at Wipro Circle in Gachibowli, located in Hyderabad’s prominent IT corridor. The Chief Minister linked the rapid growth of areas such as Gachibowli to the economic liberalisation reforms introduced under Dr Singh’s leadership as Union Finance Minister in 1991.
In a message shared on X, Revanth Reddy said Telangana was paying tribute to a leader remembered for his humility, vision and contribution to the country’s development.
The Chief Minister also recalled Dr Singh’s association with the Telangana statehood process, noting that the creation of Telangana was realised during his tenure as Prime Minister.
Highlighting Dr Singh’s distinguished public career, Revanth Reddy referred to the various responsibilities he held, including Chief Economic Adviser, Reserve Bank of India Governor, Union Finance Minister and eventually Prime Minister of India.
He said Dr Singh’s tenure as Finance Minister marked a major turning point in India’s economic journey, with reforms introduced in 1991 reshaping the country’s economic framework and opening new avenues for growth and investment.
Revanth Reddy also praised Dr Singh’s decade as Prime Minister, saying his administration focused on economic development, public welfare and inclusive growth.
Remembering him as an economist of international standing and a dedicated public servant, the Chief Minister said Dr Singh’s humility, wisdom and commitment to public service continue to inspire future generations.
He added that Dr Manmohan Singh’s contribution to India’s economic transformation and national development would remain an important part of the country’s history and legacy.
