Hyderabad is showing signs of early summer as temperatures in some areas have risen to 35.6 degrees Celsius, higher than normal for this transition period between winter and pre-summer. Chandanagar recorded the highest temperature at 35.9 degrees Celsius on Monday, followed by Karwan at 35.6 degrees Celsius and Moosapet at 35.4 degrees Celsius.
IMD data shows that the highest temperature of 35 degrees Celsius was recorded on February 23, 2022. However, this year, day-time temperatures have consistently crossed 33 degrees Celsius since the beginning of the month. In 2016, the highest-ever temperature recorded in the city in February was 38.7 degrees Celsius.
The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has predicted a slight decrease in day and night temperatures, offering a brief respite. A yellow alert has been issued for several areas, including Secunderabad, Alwal, Begumpet, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Saroornagar, Khairatabad, and Malakpet, as the minimum temperature may drop below 15 degrees Celsius until Thursday. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Kumaram Bheem Asifabad and Sangareddy, as these districts may experience single-digit temperatures.
