Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based nano distribution centre building startup Exprs has raised seed funding of Rs 4.5 crore from Lets Venture, Angel List, and DCF Ventures. The investment is led by angel investors Sweta Rau and Sandeep Kapoor. This is the company’s second round of funding, while previously it raised Rs 2.2 crore in a pre-seed round.
The three-year-old company helps in solving last-mile delivery inefficiencies by setting nano distribution centres across clusters like gated communities, tech parks, universities, and commute points. It has major operations in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai and is currently present in 45 locations in the city. With the seed funding, the company plans to expand its operations to 500 locations in the next six months across the four cities.
“The funding will also be used to expand our team strength from 200 to 450 people with majority hiring happening in the delivery executive field. Closing of the deal took about 3-3.5 months and we hope to penetrate into deeper pockets with our centres with the new investment,” Srinivas Madhavam, founder and CEO, Exprs informed.
The company has fulfilled more than a million deliveries in the first year of operations and has partnered with top e-commerce companies, D2C brands, MSMEs, and homepreneurs. Currently, Exprs has more than two million consumers within 500 meters of its nano distribution centres called Exprs Points.
During the Pandemic, Gated communities across Hyderabad & Bangalore, have partnered with Exprs to launch ‘Real Contactless Deliveries’ where a set of pre-screened, dedicated, on-campus delivery executives helped to restrict the entry of a large pool of delivery executives. The network also helped 100s of Covid-19 positive patients to pick up the health monitoring kits without getting in direct contact. In the next one year, Exprs aims to get deeper in the existing cities and launch the network in other top Indian cities and serve 100-plus D2C and e-commerce brands.
