Tank Bund, situated at the heart of Hyderabad, is a renowned tourist attraction and one of the city’s oldest recreational spots. Its serene surroundings and picturesque vistas have made it a popular destination for locals seeking respite, particularly in the evenings.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors, K.T. Rama Rao, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, proposed the implementation of traffic-free Sundays on Tank Bund road, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The resulting initiative, known as Sunday Funday at Tank Bund, Hyderabad, garnered an overwhelming response, with numerous families flocking to the area to take pictures and relax in the peaceful ambiance.
The recently inaugurated musical floating fountain, India’s largest, located at Hussain Sagar and developed at a cost of Rs 17.02 crore by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), is set to enhance the appeal of the Sunday Funday event. The fountain, situated near NTR Marg, boasts an impressive height of approximately 90 meters, a length of 180 meters, and a width of 10 meters.
With a range of exceptional features, the musical floating fountain includes three laser sets showcasing diverse themes, mist fairy fog to create a cloud-like effect in sync with music, 800 high-powered nozzles that project water to great heights, and 880 underwater LED lights that augment the dynamic visual experience. Moreover, the DMX controller facilitates the control and synchronization of the nozzles and jets with the music. The height of the chasing nozzles’ sprays range from 12 to 45 meters, while the central jet reaches a remarkable height of 90 meters.
The HMDA has scheduled three 20-minute shows each day of the week for the musical fountain. However, on weekends, the fountain’s display will be extended with four shows between 7 pm and 10 pm. Visitors to Tank Bund, Hyderabad, during Sunday Funday, are in for a stunning visual treat.
