Hyderabad: The Citizens Global Capability Centre (GCC) — a collaborative venture between US-based Citizens Financial Group and Cognizant Technologies — was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, April 15, at the GMR Infobahn IT Park in Kokapet by Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
During the event, Minister Sridhar Babu shared the state government’s vision to position Hyderabad as a leading hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) by 2030.
He also announced an ambitious target of developing 200 million square feet of Grade-A commercial office space in the city by 2030, aiming to cater to the rising demand from global enterprises.
Hyderabad has firmly established itself as a global business hub. In fact, companies leased 1.8 million square feet of office space in the city just last year,” the minister said.
Hyderabad Hosts 355 GCCs
Hyderabad is currently home to 355 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) operated by top international companies including Amazon, GlobalLogic, Eli Lilly, Marriott, and Cigna, collectively employing around 300,000 professionals.
The minister highlighted the government’s broader vision—not just to attract more GCCs, but to transform them into innovation-driven centres focused on research, development, and product creation.
Addressing concerns over negative propaganda intended to deter investments, Minister Sridhar Babu reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and pointed to the ongoing trust and commitment shown by industrialists.
“Despite certain attempts to spread misinformation, investors continue to come forward because they believe in the government’s vision,” he stated.
The newly inaugurated Citizens GCC currently employs 100 IT and data professionals, with plans to double its workforce over the next two to three years. The centre is poised to play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s global operations and driving innovation initiatives.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Telangana IT Department Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Citizens Financial Group’s Chief Information Officer and Head of Enterprise Technology and Security, Michael, and Cognizant America President Surya Gummadi, among others.
